Home, sweet, Home. What can I say about her? I've always hated California, and have sworn up and down that I'd leave the first chance I got. I must say, however, that after having lived for two years in Scotland, I am really starting to appreciate home. Sure, the endless warm weather and sunshine does get a tad bit boring after the first twenty years or so, but it does actually beat the alternative. For all of those who don't live here, the mental image which springs to mind when someone first mentions California is probably not unlike the one above; but California is so much more than that. The nation's most populus state, California is also it's most geographically diverse. Where else could you start the day below sea-level in Death Valley, and with a short drive and long hike be on top of Mt. Whitney, the hightest in the lower 48 states? Here are a few pictures from California so that all my ponder why I ever left:
