s.jpg (11631 bytes) o who am I you ask?  Well if you will only give me the honor of  accepting my word as a gentleman, I shall reveal to you the true nature of the author of this very site!

First things first and last things next.  Ah, the  introduction.  My name is Ryan Renfro and I hail from Ventura, California.   Descending from both Irish Royalty and the noble hero Achilles, whose deeds were laid down by Homer in the Iliad, I intend to give to you in the following lines an account of my life and deeds.

I was delivered by the stork on May 15th, 1979.  I grew up and old but not yet out, and I can only pray that I may have the strength to prevent the latter.  Formerly enrolled at the University of California Santa Barbara, I am a double major in Medieval Studies and history with a minor in German.  Little do they no I'm also enrolled at St Andrews University in Scotland, where I am completing a masters and where I hope to do an M.Litt next year.wappen.gif (15499 bytes)

The one thing that I would recommend to any and all of you who are still in school is to BE AN EXCHANGE STUDENT!   Living in Germany for a month and Scotland for a year were the best things I have ever done and not only did I have a great time in so doing, but it also continually adds so much to my life that I cannot even reasonably come close to telling you all of the benefits.  Therefore I will merely call you attention back to the opening sentence of this paragraph.

me2.jpg (4595 bytes)     The one thing you must know about me is my fancy (or shall I say...obsession) with medieval history.   Books, films, swords, armour...just make it medieval and make it mine!

As for the future? Who knows. I am currently looking into joining the United States Air Force to become a pilot. Not that I would necessarily want to do that for the rest of my life, but it would be a blast and would pay for a PhD. I hope to become a contributing columnist and author someday and quite fancy going into politics.
